Position Description: The Substation Construction & Maintenance Superintendent manages the teams that construct and maintain the entire substation system for Austin Energy. This position is responsible for the full range of supervisory duties including work assignments and monitoring, staff development, performance reviews and disciplinary actions. The ideal candidate is a motivated and organized team player with proven experience as a successful leader.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in substation electrical equipment and apparatuses of transmission and/or distribution substation systems in an electric utility field.
Experience in a supervisor role, performing the full range of supervisory functions for teams responsible for substation construction and maintenance.
Experience responding to unscheduled urgent utility related matters such as outages, emergency restoration, and other business needs outside normal business hours.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word 2016 or later.
Ability to travel to multiple work sites during scheduled work hours.

Work Schedule:
This position is categorized as Essential Personnel with the City of Austin. Essential staff are required to work during emergencies or bad weather if they are scheduled to work and, in some cases, when they are not scheduled. Essential employees ensure the continuance of key operations for the City of Austin.
Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekends
Shifts may change according to departmental needs.
Employee may be required to work additional hours outside of regular work schedule.

Travel: If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus eight (8) years experience in a related field, two (2) years of which were in a supervisory capacity.
