Product Engineer, Flex-N-Gate Advanced Product Development, LLC, Allen Park, MI. Responsible for the design, analysis, and quoting activity and testing of new products. Provide support in production products with engineering changes or other aspects as required. Identify and facilitate product features and improvements. Review product drawings, specifications and prototypes, preparing reports as necessary at each stage of development and review of product test results. Liaise with customer to review and provide update on product status/ timing and engineering changes. Ensure products meet and exceed all customer specifications. Analyze current product offerings to determine ways to improve quality, increase functionality, maintain aesthetic appeal, and reduce cost of production. Analyze and reverse-engineer competitor product offerings. Identify key product strengths and weaknesses. Develop solutions to product weaknesses. Assist the sales and marketing staff with understanding the functionality and benefits of products. Troubleshoot product malfunctions/ failures. Maintain accurate product development records.
40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering (any), or a related field, and five (5) years of related work experience in the position offered or a related position. Employer will accept pre-Bachelor's degree experience.
Must have five (5) years of experience with/in:
Working within the automotive industry;
TS16949, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flows;
Creating and executing product development plans that have achieved the identified targets;
Problem solving and root cause analysis;
Completing VA/VE and Product R&D; and
Managing Environmental Management System (EMS) and Quality Management System (QMS).
Up to 5% domestic and international travel required.
Telecommuting permitted one (1) day per week.
