The Department of Biology at Colorado State University, located in Fort Collins, Colorado, is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor researching plant form and function to enable creative solutions for a sustainable future. We are seeking an individual applying molecular biology-based research approaches to study plant metabolism, cell biology, physiology, and development. Potential areas of investigation could include, but are not limited to, the following: plant responses and adaptation to climate change and other abiotic stressors, mutualistic plant-microbe interactions, phytohormone signaling and development, plant metabolic engineering, or plant chromatin biology.
The successful candidate will develop a research program that interfaces with an integrative and collaborative department of evolutionary biologists, ecologists, geneticists, molecular biologists, physiologists, and organismal biologists, working at scales from molecules to ecosystems. Teaching responsibilities will reflect the candidate’s area of expertise but may include existing and/or new courses in areas such as plant physiology, cell biology, or developmental biology. The successful candidate will be expected to make impactful service contributions to the university, their academic community, and broader outreach efforts. Required Job Qualifications
Ph.D. in biology, molecular/cell biology, plant biology or related field by the time of appointment
The applicant must demonstrate excellence in research through authorship of peer-reviewed publications investigating plant form and function.
Preferred qualifications:
2+ years postdoctoral experience but not currently in a tenure-track faculty position.
Evidence of successful grant writing.
Evidence of teaching/mentoring experience, and engagement in impactful service/outreach/inclusivity activities.
Evidence of successful research achievements associated with current experience.
