Seeking a dynamic Sr. Environmental Engineer to join our team of engineers to support our CO operations. The Sr. Environmental Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all environmental requirements on a project are met with oversight of all environmental issues relating to construction activities. This shall include, but not limited to development and implementation of site-specific environmental procedures and plans, and compliance with federal and state documentation of environmental approvals. You must have a valid PE Certification in CO.

Job Duties

• Design engineering plans for temporary erosion and sediment controls for a variety of residential development and commercial construction projects and obtain associated local, State, and Federal regulatory permits,
• Permit application and obtain permits for groundwater dewatering activities for a construction project as well as permanent structure applications,
• Design permanent water quality and flood attenuation features for residential projects.
• Conduct Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments
• Advise department managers on the coordination or management of environmental programs or projects.
• Verify project compliance with engineering best practices.
• Monitor adherence to Federal and State environmental regulations and standards.
• Prepare and/or present briefings on the status of current engineering projects to various stakeholders.
• Proposal creation (RFPs) for environmental consulting work.
• Oversees the preparation of regulatory and other agency project permit applications.
• Drafts thorough project descriptions.
• Ensures the Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) is current and understands what needs to be accomplished within the SWMP to meet the requirements of the State permit.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Registration as a Professional Engineer with Colorado State Board of Licensure required.
• Knowledge of general construction principles and practices; legal environment associated with construction and maintenance of public works projects; modern methods, principles and practices of infrastructure construction and maintenance; conveyance of storm water through storm drain systems; equipment and materials used in construction and maintenance operations; current codes, standards, safety practices and principles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and provisions of the applicable state’s environmental laws.
• Thorough understanding of environmental review process and documents.
• Ability to make independent decisions, prepare narrative reports, and act as a liaison between department and regulatory agencies.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or another similar discipline required.
• A Post-Graduate degree in engineering, business or project management would be an asset.
