Job Description: Quality Manager, Commercial Power Projects (Fossil and Transmission & Distribution)
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to the Director of Quality and Project Managers. Responsible to develop, maintain and implement the commercial Power Quality Management System (PQMS), including applying the processes and controls that pertain to projects.
SAFETY & SECURITY:
Ensure that Quality personnel receive company and project specific safety and security training. Support project quality activities to ensure their performance comply with project safety and security procedures.
QUALITY:
- Develop, maintain, and implement the company’s commercial Quality Programs: PQMS and ASME Section I BPV Quality manual.
- Quality activities shall be performed in a manner that ensures contract, regulatory requirements, code, industry standards and project design requirements are met and documented.
- Participate in marketing efforts to secure contracts.
- Develop project specific Quality Plans that address the scope, client mandates and industry process control methods through selected reviews, inspections, testing, and verifications that produce successful project results; safety, on time, meets design, and within the budget.
- Direct quality planning, process control development and implementation for the wide range of project scopes with engineering, procurement and construction work being performed.
- Select, train, and manage Field Quality, Supplier QA oversight and QC inspection and testing personnel. Administer qualification and certification processes for company and contractor personnel.
- Provide Quality Assurance and Quality Control support to project site personnel.
Perform assessments, audits, and surveillances of commercial power activities to evaluate the effectiveness of the program based on implementation for selected projects.
INTERFACE & COMUNICATIONS:
- Interface with Business Development to address proposals with quality program requirements.
- Communicate and coordinate with Project Managers to develop Project Quality Plans, Risk Management, Supplier Inspection and Test Plans and Construction Inspection and Test Plans.
- Interface with customers on quality related matters, such as project quality coverage planning, Nonconformance and Corrective Action.
WORK IMPLEMENTATION:
- Maintain the quality manuals, procedures, and instructions to address evolving customers’ requirements.
- Develop project specific procedures or modify procedures to address enhanced or improved process controls.
- Participate in conflict resolution when issues are raised above the project level. Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Perform assessments, audits, or surveillances for project’s process controls (engineering or procurement) at the corporate level or at construction sites.
- Administer Supplier QA oversight to qualify new vendors and to customer’s specific requests.
- Periodically review project’s quality performance to identify adverse trends or best practices.
- Initiate changes to processes and procedures to improve the company’s effectiveness delivering acceptable results.
