The City of Portland is seeking an Engineer II to join the Portland Bureau of Transportation
About the position: This position is responsible for providing technical and professional engineering guidance and project management within the Major Projects & Partnership Section of the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT). The Major Projects & Partnerships Section (MPP) is a part of Policy Planning and Projects Division (PPP)**. MPP staff are responsible to work in partnership with other regional and state agencies (ODOT, TriMet, Multnomah County, etc) and lead all City bureaus in the delivery of "mega" transportation projects that affect the entire metropolitan region. The projects are "owned" by these other agencies and the City of Portland is ultimately the regulatory/permit authority that dictates where, when, and how the public investments in transportation infrastructure are made. In this position you will have the opportunity to shape the transportation networks of this region to improve mobility and connectivity for all users and change the face of this city for decades to come.
What you'll get to do:
Provide technical engineering expertise to the City, project partners, consultant design teams, and stakeholders for some of the largest transportation projects within the metropolitan area
Mentor, lead, and coordinate work of assigned engineering and technical staff/consultants Develop, monitor, and report on project budgets
Act as a planning, design, and construction liaison to project owners, their consultants, and their construction contractors
Present information to many audiences including community members, technical staff, and elected officials

Although not required: A breadth of experience within the public sector, especially that of a local road authority responsible for roadway design, operations, and maintenance is desired.

The following qualifications are required for this position:
Experience acting as the engineer on record (stamping plans) for roadway design projects.
Experience with roadway design, civil engineering project management including developing and reporting on a budget.
Knowledge of roadway construction methods and techniques.
Experience collaborating and negotiating with a variety of diverse stakeholders.
Experience acting as an equitable leader in supervising, mentoring, and training assigned staff
