The Washington DC office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Plumbing Designer to join our team.

Working with us, you will: 

• Perform analysis, design and documentation of plumbing systems, laboratory and process piping and controls. 
• Lead in the plumbing engineering effort by applying engineering fundamentals to plumbing engineering design, typically in association with CAD or BIM input. 
• Produce and coordinate a complete set of construction documents on small to medium projects. 
• Visit construction sites as required for observation, answer contractor questions, or representing the owner in preparing punch lists. 
• Determine procedures to design, develop and document a project or system based on an evaluation of its unique needs and constraints. 
• Independently assess design requirements. 
• Coordinate and review the work of designers, and interns assigned to projects. 
• Mentor junior level staff and participate in performance coaching. 
• Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.
