The SGRE Blade Design department in Boulder, Colorado, helps drive the growth of the offshore wind industry by designing the longest composite structures in the world. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Design airfoils and external shape of offshore wind turbine blades
Advise management on technologies, design methods, and design tools for aeroelastic blades
Lead technology development projects
Mentor younger engineers
Contribute to design reviews to ensure quality of analysis and deliverables
Collaborate with a diverse group of engineers in a global, team-based environment
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering
7+ years of industry experience in aerodynamic or aeroelastic design and analysis
Experience leading aerodynamic design or technology projects
Knowledge of aerodynamic computational methods such as BEM theory, panel methods, and RANS
Expertise in airfoil aerodynamics
A track record working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written reports
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Programming experience with MATLAB, Python, and FORTRAN
Knowledge of multi-disciplinary and multi-objective design methods
Experience with CFD for aerodynamic analysis
A track record of creating novel solutions to engineering problems
Ability to receive abstract problems and create concrete execution plans
