PhD Openings: Systems at Cornell University is currently looking for Ph.D. students in several research areas. All positions are fully funded.
Research Area: Energy systems and/or interconnected infrastructure systems Skills and interest in quantitative modeling of energy systems, and/or interconnected infrastructure systems. Knowledge of energy markets is also useful. A background in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, applied mathematics, or operations research is recommended.
Research Area: Energy systems and/or interconnected infrastructure systems Skill and interest in data science, data-driven decision-making, automatic control, energy systems engineering, circular economy, life cycle assessment, and quantum computing. A strong mathematical background and programming skills are recommended.
Research Area: Transportation and other urban infrastructure system Looking for students that are interested in studying both the theoretical aspects of the underlying problems and the practical challenges of implementing this theory in a real-world system. Students with strong quantitative (optimization/algorithms) and computational skills and interested in problems relating to urban mobility are recommended.
