The Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine and the Mayo Clinic Children’s Research Center are seeking to recruit a creative and energetic Clinician Investigator/Career Scientist who will develop and implement gene therapy approaches to address health conditions that impact children. The successful candidate will establish an active research program that bridges discovery through clinical application. Research areas of interest include but are not limited to: 1) cell therapy for treatment of pediatric illnesses; 2) viral delivery of corrective genes in vivo; 3) development of relevant technology.
This position will include long-term faculty salary support and a travel budget, as well as a competitive startup package. Additional benefits include intramural funding opportunities for research projects. The successful candidate will have opportunities to not only establish and maintain a highly recognized research program, but also to integrate with existing institutional strengths in molecular medicine and virology, genomics, molecular biochemistry, individualized medicine, and laboratory medicine and pathology. Opportunities to develop entrepreneurial offshoots from the research program will also be encouraged and supported. For physician scientists, a portion of time engaged in clinical practice could be offered.
The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree (e.g. PhD and/or MD) with background in a relevant scientific field (e.g., cell or gene therapy, virology, biochemistry), and have an established track record of relevant research accomplishments and scholarship exemplified by publications and/or significant extramural funding, as well as a strong collaborative approach to science. Consideration will be given to candidates at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level.
Interested candidates should submit a CV and NIH Biosketch/Statement of Research Interests.
