Assistant Professor – Materials Science in Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Computer Science seeks dynamic scholars to fill a tenure track faculty position in the strategic area of Materials Science as identified in Baylor’s Illuminate vision document. Candidates with areas complimenting the department’s current strengths are encouraged to apply, which include but are not limited to: composites, additive manufacturing, biomaterials, complex and advanced materials, and/or NDE/NDT/NDI. The position will begin in August 2020 at the Assistant Professor level. Responsibilities include active research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, course curriculum development, and professional service. Baylor offers ABET/EAC-accredited B.S. programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Engineering. Hallmarks of Baylor engineering include a commitment to engineering education in a supportive Christian environment, faculty collegiality, and small class sizes. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has state-of-the-art facilities to support scholarship. In addition, faculty and students have access to the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC), a newly developed, 330,000 square foot, modern research facility designed to foster scientific and technological innovation. The successful candidate will help the department increase research activity and maintain teaching excellence. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
