The Department of Information, Risk, and Operations Management (IROM) at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions (starting Fall 2020) in the area of Business Analytics. One position is at the Assistant Professor level, while the other has an open rank. We are particularly interested in scholars who are applying data science methods to important and relevant business problems.
An ideal candidate’s research would include the refinement of existing methods or the development of new approaches driven by specific research contexts. A successful candidate will be expected to have an active research program, teach business analytics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students, and be involved in service to the University and the profession. We invite applications from diverse areas including Computer Science, Decision Science, Information Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Statistics.
The IROM Department at the McCombs School comprises a diverse group of scholars in four areas: Decision Science, Information Systems, Operations Management, and Statistics. The required qualification for both positions is a Doctoral degree – in the case of the junior position the degree is expected by the time that the candidate joins the faculty. Candidates for a tenured position are expected to have an internationally-recognized research program, and to have demonstrated excellence in teaching, mentoring, and service.
All applicants should submit a cover letter, a CV, and a statement of research interests. They should also arrange for three letters of support to be sent separately. Applicants should not submit any supplemental material. However, applicants’ CVs should include links to a web site (or sites) where all papers and software packages listed on the CV can be downloaded. Applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled, but the review of applications will begin on or around 11th October, 2019. Candidates interested in talking to us at the 2019 annual INFORMS in Seattle should submit their applications by this date.
As a campus with a continually growing diverse student body, we strongly encourage women, minorities, and individuals with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion to apply.
