The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) Department at Iowa State University (ISU) seeks candidates for a faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level in the area of transportation engineering. Targeted areas of interest include, but are not limited to, geometric design of transportation facilities, transportation planning, traffic safety/engineering, cooperative autonomous transportation, infrastructure asset management, intelligent transportation systems, or transportation economics.
The successful candidate is envisioned to establish and sustain their own externally funded research program and complement the current research and education efforts in the CCEE Department through interdisciplinary collaboration. They will teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise both graduate and undergraduate students, generate a scholarly publication record, participate in technical committees and outreach activities, and exhibit a commitment to inclusivity and diversity. About the Department The CCEE Department offers B.S. degree programs in civil engineering, civil engineering with environmental emphasis, and construction engineering plus M.S., MEng, and Ph.D. graduate degree programs in civil engineering and maintains externally funded research of approximately $17 million annually. The department employs 48 faculty members. CCEE is committed to diversity among faculty, staff and students who can enrich University objectives in the areas of research, teaching and service.

Required Qualifications Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. in civil engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates with a doctorate degree in civil engineering should have an emphasis in transportation engineering. Degree must be conferred by employment start date. Associate Professor candidates must meet the university standards for appointment to the rank including significant experience/accomplishments in the candidate's area of expertise. Full Professor candidates are required to have national distinction, international recognition, and a substantial scholarly record in addition to the aforementioned requirements.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications include a professional engineering license or the ability to become licensed, professional experience in a related field, instructional experience in appropriate technical topics, a record of publication in related technical areas, experience writing grant proposals and managing research, evidence of strong communication skills, and evidence of a commitment to diversity/inclusivity.
