The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) District Seven (Frederick County) is recruiting for a Team Leader (Transportation Engineering Manager II) position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications*listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. All eligible candidates must meet the minimum and selective qualifications by the closing date. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification in District Seven (Frederick County). This position oversees the Eastern Region of the District 7 Traffic Section. This position manages and supervises 2 Area Traffic Engineers & 1 Work Zone Traffic Control Inspector by providing higher level guidance, mentorship & managerial approval. The incumbent in this position independently performs the uppermost level of managerial duties in the areas outlined herein over that respective region. The Transportation Engineer Manager often works directly with the District Engineer to manage a broad spectrum of complex, controversial, & sensitive traffic management issues in urban and rural settings. The position also completely fulfills the duties and responsibilities of the Assistant District Engineer for Traffic upon his absence. The Metropolitan District 7 Traffic Division has a level of authority in every aspect of transportation related engineering within our district. The objective of the District Traffic Office (Division) is to investigate, implement, review, and coordinate traffic control & safety enhancements along state highways in Carroll, Howard, and Frederick Counties. This includes major construction and private development projects, utility work, maintenance projects, planning, design projects, and emergency operations. It involves coordination with many offices within State Government.
