Quality Engineers at Aerojet Rocketdyne work with suppliers and/or shop floor personnel to ensure compliance to specifications/requirements. Typical duties include:
Providing requirements interpretation and flowdown. Ensuring that manufacturing staff and inspectors have the correct understanding of manufacturing processes (from engineering drawing implementation through manufacturing planning instructions).
Active participation on improvement teams to reduce risk through the application of mistake proofing principles.
Conducting process audits to ensure processes are following manufacturing planning, program requirements and enterprise level command media.
Driving corrective and preventive action to ensure continual improvement. Investigates and determines root causes of problems. Develops and implements corrective and preventive actions.
Participating in the Material Review Board, including segregation and control of nonconforming hardware to preclude inadvertent processing, disposition nonconforming hardware, preparing for and conducting board meetings and implementing disposition decisions.
Reviewing purchase requisitions and assigning supplier quality requirements.
Developing Inspection Planning Sheets for Receiving Inspection.
Working with suppliers to resolve issues with purchase order inspection packages. Work closely with Planners, Program Quality Engineers, and Receiving Inspection to resolve supplier issues.
Visiting suppliers to review product & process issues.
Positions typically require a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should have knowledge of ASME 14.5, as well as hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment needed. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, organizational and computer skills.
Willingness and ability to travel needed.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
