The ideal candidate will possess a record of significant accomplishments in a growing suburban community committed to excellence in customer service. Together with the incumbent Civil Engineer, the individual selected for this position will be responsible for capital project planning and management, contract consultant supervision and management, coordination of information and activities with IDOT, Will County, and other agencies, commercial and residential plan review, and the development of RFQs and RFPs for outside engineering services, as well as other traditional municipal engineering services.
Experience in project management, surveying, design, and construction of public works-related projects is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, CAD, and GIS systems is also required. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are a must. This position will work under the supervision of the Public Works Director and the Assistant Public Works Director, and may supervise Public Works employees as assigned by or in the absence of the Public Works Director or Assistant Public Works Director.
Two to five years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal or consulting environment is required. The successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate and work (both independently and collaboratively) in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with fellow employees, supervisors, elected officials, and the public. Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required. Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Illinois is also required, along with the ability to attain specified water and wastewater operator certifications upon employment.
