The City of Vista's Engineering Department is seeking an energetic, motivated team player to serve as an Associate Engineer on the City's Capital Improvement Project team. The CIP team provides services to improve the quality of Vista's public facilities and infrastructure. This is an opportunity to manage all phases of project activities from design to construction.
This position performs advanced journey-level professional civil engineering duties in the review, evaluation and design of capital improvement projects; prepares plans and specifications; coordinates construction activities with contractors, utility companies, engineers, surveyors and City staff; manages professional consultants; reviews Capital Improvement plans and specifications; manages project budgets and prepares project schedules. Incumbents may be assigned to train and act as resource person; answer questions of the public and to perform related work as required.
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. A typical qualifying background is a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; and three years professional level experience performing engineering design and managing capital improvement projects.
Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License.
Certification with the State of California as a Civil Engineer is required.
