The Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin (ICPRB) was created by interstate compact to serve its member jurisdictions DC, MD, PA, VA, WV, PA, and the federal government, with a mission to protect and enhance the waters and related resources of the Potomac River basin through science, regional cooperation, and education.
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating all technical and administrative activities of the Commission's staff to effectively carry out Compact responsibilities and Commission objectives. The ED promotes ICPRB’s mission to other agencies/organizations through interactions with high level officials and leadership of other organizations. Ability to find and negotiate with funding sources is critical. Demonstrated strong leadership and managerial skills are required.
Candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree with fifteen or more years’ experience in the management of water or related resource programs. Advanced degrees are highly desired such that a master's degree with 10 years’ experience, or Ph.D. with 5 years’ experience, meets the requirement. In all cases, at least five of those years should have been in a supervisory role. Professional engineer registration is a plus. Experience and knowledge of the state and federal legislative processes are a plus.
