We are seeking a Director of Human Resources. The Director of HR, reporting to the CEO, will be integral to guiding the firm to accomplish its vision of growth. This position will lead, develop, and carry out HR programs, and participate in the company’s strategic planning initiatives, projects, and challenges. Compensation and market competitiveness for top staff talent, along with training, development and retention, will be a primary focus for this role. Kennedy/Jenks Consultants currently has about 400 employees in 30 offices nationwide. This position may be based in a Kennedy/Jenks west coast office, or in Denver, CO.
Your primary focus is to enhance our thriving organizational culture by developing and implementing programs focused on compensation and rewards, performance, training, and career development. Specifically, you will:
Foster an environment of learning and growth by developing and implementing training, professional/career development, talent retention and succession programs.
Develop, implement, and manage an effective compensation and classification program; oversee annual and periodic compensation processes; and evaluate and recommend talent and compensation solutions.
Align and enhance company culture and communication to support the company’s vision and values.
Serve as a strategic business partner in driving HR and talent solutions across the organization.
Additionally, you will oversee and participate in HR objectives and initiatives, as well as direct the day-to-day activities of the HR group, as follows:
Coach managers on talent strategy, recruitment and employee relations issues.
Oversee and develop best practices in the management of employee benefits programs and provide oversight of HR information systems.
Promote the company’s commitment to maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce and prepare Affirmative Action and EEO plans and reporting.
Proactively update and develop policies that adapt to changing organizational needs and manage compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws with counsel.
Lead the HR team, leverage their skills and talents, and provide feedback, guidance, and growth opportunities.
Partner with HR team members to guide and improve talent strategy, on-boarding, performance reviews, retention, wellness, and other programs.
Team with legal counsel/risk management, safety, accounting/finance, and other stakeholders on various HR issues, programs and initiatives
Successful candidates will have demonstrated relevant expertise and experience. You will bring HR transactional, operational, and strategic skills, along with proven coaching and mentoring skills. You will have a strong foundation in all HR functions, and experience providing HR services and support in a decentralized environment.
At least ten years of progressively responsible HR management experience.
Experience in the Engineering/Environmental Consulting or Architecture industry is strongly preferred.
Must have strong recent experience in the development and maintenance of compensation and benefits philosophy, methods, and programs.
Demonstrated skills in the development and implementation of effective training programs, including the ability to lead and train groups.
Experience working with a geographically distributed workforce. Must have knowledge of California labor laws and other federal, state and local labor laws.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
HR Certification (PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SPC) is desired.
Proficient in Office365, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in HRIS systems.
Able to travel as needed.
