We are seeking a Power & Mechanical Engineer Managerin Monrovia, CA to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) Operations and Maintenance O&M contract with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and NASA.The Power & Mechanical Engineer Manager is responsible for the development and engineering sustainment of power, HVAC, control systems, fire, civil, cable, rack, surveillance TV, and configuration management of the systems at three DSN Communications Complex’s (Goldstone, CA; Madrid Spain; Canberra Australia. International travel.
This position will be responsible for the following:
Provide management and oversight to projects under development and implementation.
Provide the technical leadership and fiscal management of all Facilities Engineering personnel that serve the Deep Space Network in the capacity of cognizant development engineers (CDEs), professional engineers (PEs), sub system engineer (SSE), and supporting technical and/or engineering skills within the disciplines.
Oversees the capacity of subsystem engineer (SSE) responsible to develop and sustain subsystem-level requirements that will identify the activities and projects required to sustain DSN facilities in an safe and acceptable operating manner, as well as enhance the capabilities to meet present and future mission commitments, including NASA energy conservation and environmental goals.
Develop Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs) that identifies subsystem level requirements including environmental compliance, energy conservation, and life cycle costing.
Develop cost analysis and estimates for projects
Ensure projects meet schedule, cost and performance objectives and adhere to the JPL Service Capabilities Development (SCD) process.
Participate in the preparation and delivery of design and/or construction contracts working closely with Contracts and Procurements Departments.
Perform test and validation of deployed systems and upgrades to ensure design specifications and functionality requirements are met.
Develop briefings to inform the JPL customer of project/system status, develop design review materials in accordance with SCD process, and develop readiness review material in preparation for service.
Develop system downtime schedules to meet implementation needs
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical field.
8 +years of management/supervisory experience.
10+years in project and/or construction management with extensive experience in the preparation and processing of design and construction contracts.
15 years in applicable Engineering function
MS/M.E, MS/EE preferred.
Current Registration as Professional Electrical Engineer (P.E.) or Registered Architect in the State of California preferred
Strong written and oral communication skills; organized, responsive and thorough problem solver.
Strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and best practice engineering principles.
Energy management practices and certifications (LEED, CEM)
