NJ TRANSIT Non-Agreement Summer Paid Intern Position Profile Department Name: Strategic Staffing Specialty Recruiting Hiring Manager: Gloria Vrabel Phone Number: (973) 378-6160 School year (i.e., sophomore, junior, etc.): No Preference Preferred major(s): Human Resources, Psychology, Sociology, Business Major Job responsibilities: - The intern would be exposed to all areas and functions of Strategic Staffing, however focusing mainly within our Specialty Recruiting unit. The intern will assist in the following:
- Play an essential role in assisting with the on-boarding process of 30+ summer interns. This will consist of face to face meetings with new/ returning interns, tracking their progress from job offer to start date to end date, and coordinate all necessary meet and create events for new interns.
- Work closely with the Senior Strategic Staffing Specialist in the Specialty Recruitment area by learning the on boarding process for union and non-union employees from start to finish; setting up medical appointments when needed; confirming that candidates have completed paper work accurately, ensuring that new hires understanding the paper work they are signing, completing HRM-1’s, and coordinating with pension/benefits.
- Assist in the tracking of large volume of incoming and outgoing information from applicants that were met at various outreach events while continuously maintaining the highest level of accuracy when processing paper work.
- Create new hire paper work packages when needed for recruiters that on board union new hires; while also learning how to use the portal process for all non-agreement hires.
- Assist in preparing interview material, setting up interviews, facilitating medical/ background process for new hire paperwork.
- Assist in the facilitating (on site and at various off site locations) of Pre-employment tests; especially on the weekend when needed.
- Organization and updating, on a daily basis, database by use of excel, word; and access (i.e. Pre-employment test candidates, college contacts, military contacts, DOL contacts, referrals, job fairs, and position folders).
Other job responsibilities: Attend various job fair events; (in addition to) observing and participating on panel interviews. Skills required: The candidates must be well versed with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word; strong data entry experience.
