Provide safe and efficient direction, management and engineering for design and construction within the Grand Central Terminal complex. These projects will require coordination between consultants, contractors, Metro-North forces and outside agencies during all project phases from design through construction.
Provide project management and direction for consultants and contractors involved in the “East Side Access” Projects, as well as support tasks and infrastructure improvements.
Provide project management and direction during construction and system implementations, including coordination with Metro-North Rail Operations, Grand Central Terminal Operations and Maintenance forces, and tenant operations.
Review and approval of technical submittals, safe work plans, and construction work plans.
Review consultant prepared plans and specifications.
Provide technical assistance and design on various engineering issues related to infrastructure improvements.
Direct administration of projects regarding payment, compliance and completion.
Work with Contract Administration on the resolution of extra work, claims and other contract matters.
Act as liaison with local and state agencies.
Knowledge of engineering design techniques and principals.
Ability to coordinate multiple departments/contractors for task completion.
Knowledge of applicable safety standards.
Ability to present technical material to a group of public officials or community groups in laymen’s terms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of CPM scheduling using Primavera or its equivalent.
Strong project management authoritative skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and/or comparable applications
Demonstrated knowledge of Program Management, Construction Management, Safety procedures, QA/QC and construction contracts.
Valid Driver’s license.
Ability to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and occasional nights and weekends as required.
P.E. or R.A. license.
Familiarity with railroad operations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or related engineering discipline.
Minimum seven (7) years of experience in design and/or inspection oversight of commercial and industrial construction.
Minimum five (5) years of experience managing staff and/or projects.
This is a safety sensitive position and subject to toxicology testing.

Effective September 2017, all full-time non-agreement personnel other than those directly involved with the movement of trains or delivery of service, or assigned to other emergency response teams, are required to serve in the Station Terminal Auxiliary Response (STAR) program requiring Terminal coverage for Grand Central Terminal (GCT) from 4:30 PM-7:30 PM one week per year or responding to Station STAR duty during a service disruption, system-wide at various hours including nights and weekends. This program is designed to improve Metro-North’s ability to provide customer service during emergencies that impact service delivery or other service disruptions that require staff to provide directions and information to MNR customers at GCT or outlying stations. Please note, hours worked during your participation week are subject to change.
