3M is seeking a Quality Manager for the Automotive Aftermarkets Division (AAD) within the Industrial Business Group (IBG) located in Maplewood, MN. Here, you go.
The person hired for the position of Quality Manager will lead continuous improvement, global process standardization and compliance with the aim of improving customer satisfaction for AAD.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Leading all quality for AAD.
Setting long-term strategic direction and operating plans for the quality function within AAD and ensuring quality strategies meet changing market conditions
Insuring implementation of appropriate quality principles and determines standards and measures for AAD and IBG.
Actively working to improve customer satisfaction.
Responsibility for establishing and enforcing multiple concepts. Working tasks include:
Establishing total quality management strategies in conjunction with fellow business leaders to ensure achievement of business objectives.
Directing and adjusting quality strategies to meet changing market conditions for AAD.
Implementing quality standards and defining guidelines for AAD.
Establishes business-focused total quality management standards and defines guidelines
Delivering measurable value for the business by generating process improvement, building customer and client satisfaction, and improving profitability.
Planning, organizing, and directing all quality activities and policies.
Resolving issues and conflicts related to an effective organization.
Ensuring achievement of quality standards such as Quality in Design, New Product Introduction (NPI), incoming quality assurance and control, manufacturing quality assurance & control, in-process stability through Product and Process Understanding (PPU), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), warranty analysis, etc.
Promoting quality best practice within the company and building a quality oriented culture for the organization.
Defining operating activities so that products are manufactured within quality standards.
Shares vision and demonstrates company values.
Providing top executives/operating committees with timely information and recommendations.
Actively participating in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards.
Has a major business impact on the organization due to significant scope of responsibility and complexity of duties. Creates and implements solution for complex, multi-faceted problems which require ingenuity, creativity, innovation, strong analytical skills, and the ability to engage the organization.
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university
Minimum of seven (7) years of combined quality management, manufacturing and/or supply chain experience
Master’s degree or higher in a technical discipline from an accredited university
Leadership experience in quality or supply chain
Demonstrated track record of implementing systemic continuous improvement
Comfortable speaking to all levels (up/ downward and laterally) and external stake holders (customers and regulators)
Knowledge of corporate systems relevant to the Quality function (CFR, IMS, SCAR, CAPA, eNPI) applies to internal applicants only
Experience in Statistical Process Control; APQP; PPAP; Supplier Management and similar methodologies
Experience in implementing PPU improvements on a global scale
Demonstrable experience in making and defending courageous decisions
Six Sigma experience (Certified Black Belt, Master Black Belt)
Strong communications skills (oral, written and presentation)

Travel: Up to 25% domestic/international
