Rayonier constantly strives to derive maximum potential of its properties by finding alternative uses of the timberlands. The Mineral Resources business is responsible for continuous improvement of Rayonier’s financial performance by successfully developing strategies, identifying, planning, marketing, and monetizing business opportunities related to sub-surface assets across the company’s 2.7 million acres. This position will direct and assist with the management of existing mining operations and development of new mining opportunities across our ownership, focused on business development with leaders across many mineral sectors and internal stakeholders to achieve financial goals and desired outcomes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure operations are following industry and Rayonier best practices to maximize operating efficiency and utilization of reserves while minimizing the impact on the environment
Perform on-site inspections and audits of mines to ensure operations are in compliance with lease
Build rapport with operators to ensure strong partnership
Perform market analysis to develop market intelligence such as comp data, commodity prices, volumes, etc.
Direct and assist in the development of prospects through the interpretation of new or existing data and information for numerous commodities
Recommend and execute exploration programs for greenfield projects. Duties include field surveying, mapping, examining and logging core samples and related tasks
Support efforts to market to and negotiate with operating companies to drive exploration and production
Coordinate with stakeholders and other experts to develop and maintain a living database of mining prospects
Assist with annual and long range planning including evaluation of mine plans, production revenue forecasts, and expenses
BS Degree in mining, engineering, geology or technical field preferred)
5 years of relevant mining and/or aggregates industry experience
Thorough knowledge of mining industry and business, regional market dynamics, marketing, and merchandizing
Strong understanding of regional concepts, such as large-scale inventories, regional play concepts, regional geologic trends and basin framework studies
Strong business acumen with the ability to market and develop new business opportunities, perform market research
Financial analysis and modelling
Strong project management skills and ability to manage consultant, customer, and vendor relationships and performance
