The Biomedical Engineering Program within the Department of Civil, Environmental & Biomedical Engineering at the University of Hartford invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to start in the Fall 2018 semester for its ABET-accredited program in Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) teach undergraduate courses in Biomaterials, Senior Capstone Design, as well as other undergraduate biomedical engineering and engineering science courses, (2) develop research related to solid Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, or related areas and disseminate the results of their research, (3) contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and service, and (4) be committed to working with diverse student and community populations. There will also be opportunities to teach in our innovative University Interdisciplinary Studies (UIS) curriculum. The College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture offers undergraduate programs in engineering and engineering technology as well as masters level programs. The undergraduate engineering programs are: Acoustical Engineering & Music, Biomedical, Civil, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical. The undergraduate engineering technology programs are: Architectural, Audio, Computer and Electronic, Electromechanical, Electronic. The graduate programs are Master of Engineering or Master of Science in Civil, Environmental, Electrical, and Mechanical in addition to the Master of Architecture. Within the College, there are 42 full-time faculty and 1170 students. The Biomedical Engineering Program has approximately 85 students and eight full-time core and associated faculty members. An earned doctorate in Biomedical Engineering or related engineering discipline is required, though persons nearing completion will be considered. The position requires a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. Candidates should show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching. Effective written and oral communication in English is required.
