Under general direction, assists in directing project office operations including construction inspection and material testing operations to ensure compliance with project plans, approved shop/working drawings, and specifications. Responsible for Project Office operations in the absence of the Project Manager.
EMPLOYEE SHALL HAVE THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM DUTIES:
Contacts supervisor for priorities and deadlines in the field.
Plan, schedule, and supervise work of assigned staff.
Writes or assists with performance evaluations.
Assist Project Manager in projecting personnel and equipment needed for the Project.
Applies engineering principles, methods and techniques to the assurance of highway and related facility construction.
Performs engineering calculations.
Performs research and problem solving of engineering-related activities.
Provides on-the-job training for construction personnel.
Prepares, reviews, or approves reports.
Observes, measures, and conducts tests of materials to determine construction compliance with the project plans, approved shop/working drawings, and governing specifications.
Works with the client, or representatives, on behalf of the Project Manager.
EMPLOYEE SHALL HAVE THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:
Insures the safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all documents and tools.
Updates Direct Report on progress and delays on every task or assignment.
Insures safe usage and maintenance of individually assigned company vehicle and field equipment.
Meets established project deadlines.
Submits accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing and/or inspection reports on a daily basis in accordance with project Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) Plan.
Review plans, specifications, and shop/working drawings for project activities.
Resolve differences in the interpretation of plans and specifications.
Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example.
Other duties as assigned by Direct Report.
EMPLOYEE SHALL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Engineer license within applicable jurisdiction. (Professional engineers licensed in another state, but not currently licensed in the State of Texas, must (1) meet the requirements of the Texas Engineering Practices Act, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers within six (6) months of the date of hire, and (3) sign an agreement to that effect as a condition of employment.)
A person in this position generally, but not necessarily has five (5) years progressively responsible experience in transportation engineering with two (2) years’ experience in construction quality control/assurance.
Shall possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm’s auto insurability requirements.

Highway construction plans, construction inspection procedures, and specifications.

The State specific Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices or National Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Effective Supervisory techniques.
SOME KNOWLEDGE OF:
Construction project document control techniques.
Human resource policies and procedures.
Construction management procedures.
Plan and coordinate work activities, oversee programs, interpret engineering plans, and instruct.
Assign and review work.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing to communicate problems, status of work, daily reports, etc.
Work under exposure to inclement weather conditions.
Read and understand plans, specifications, instructions, labels, reports, etc.
Travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
Prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Analyze, problem solve, and recommend solutions.
Ability to drive company vehicle, manage and complete all assigned jobs, efficiently and on time.
Present a professional appearance to best represent the firm.
Wear personal protective equipment and comply with all safety requirements.
Comply with all attendance requirements as noted in most current edition of Corporate Policy Manual.
The use of personal computers and applicable software.
Maintaining an effective and cohesive working group.
Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
