Purpose: To ensure acceptable supplier quality performance, components/materials quality, effective supplier development, and effective supplier evaluation, selection and oversight.

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for supplier quality performance, supplier development, strategic selection and oversight, components quality, and closure of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR). The successful candidate will apply strong practical expertise using quality, lean, and problem solving principles and tools to drive quality, delivery, and service improvements with suppliers. S/he must lead and manage supplier quality and recall events to complete resolution and work with the Purchasing, Materials Management and other department team members to identify and execute supplier improvement initiatives.
Overall supplier quality performance to drive quality, delivery, and service improvements. Periodic reporting and tracking of quality performance.
Supplier development through training, audits, selection, etc.
Conduct internal and external training necessary to improve supplier quality.
Assist Purchasing Supervisor and/or Quality and Regulatory Affairs Director in source selection and development, surveys, certification, and tool and component qualification.
Support new product development, programs and platforms from a supplier quality perspective. Supplier selection, qualification, capability, tooling, gauging, measurement consistency/gauge correlation, gauge R&R, print reviews, etc.

4 Year Engineering Degree (Preferably Mechanical or Industrial) plus 3 years of related experience and a minimum three (3) years practical, hands-on, quality and lean operations experience
