Under the supervision of the Quality Engineering Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for quality assurance technical support of operations in accordance with company policies and procedures. This position provides coverage for the facility’s 2nd shift.
Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities
Inspect purchased and internally manufactured product for specified requirements, critical dimensions, completeness, transit damage, and customer compliance.
Perform final release of end items prior to shipment.
Enter Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s) into the computer system, making certain that information is accurately conveyed to all departments. Work with engineers to determine disposition. Lead corrective actions for problems when required.
Use a variety of gages and QA tools to perform product inspections, including calipers, micrometers, tape measures, durometer testers, brinell hardness testers, FARO arms, and many more. [Training for these will be provided.]
Author quality documentation (SOPs, PCCs) for use in the plant as required.
Provide assistance for ISO audits
Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards. Assist and support continuous safety, health, and environmental improvement activities.
Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, ongoing improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma/GED. Willing to consider employees new to the work force though at least 6 months of manufacturing experience preferred; Up to six weeks of full-time on the job training will be provided followed by incidental training as needed.
Experience as an inspector and/or working knowledge of machining, welding, and/or GD&T strongly preferred. ASQ or CIQ certifications are a plus.
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex engineering drawings and related technical documentation. Ability to write procedures and emails to vendors, customers, and other employees.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read toleranced engineering drawings.
Requires the ability to confidently operate a computer, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and email. Training will be provided for FARO and laser scanner software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Employee will not be required to drive a company vehicle. Must have reliable transportation to work, but is not required to have a class D driver’s license. Current forklift license a plus.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerance preferred. Ability to read engineering drawings and knowledge of machining processes strongly preferred.
