Ensure that all technical (installation) aspects of the construction process, including those provided by subcontractors and suppliers, are in accordance with the contract drawings and that the workmanship, procedures, and materials comply with the specification. Verify that the requirements of the Aldridge Quality program are met.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Quality Engineer (QE) follows internal Quality Program initiatives to ensure that Aldridge meets or exceeds customer expectations. These Quality initiatives ensure that the customer gets the product that was specified and the installation processes being used promotes a product that is installed effectively and correctly the first time. In addition, the QE visits construction sites and observes the installation practices making sure all Aldridge Quality practices are being implemented and to ensure the Aldridge Safety Absolutes are adhered to. The QE validates all Quality Program measurable, including but not limited to, the project ‘Task List’, roles & responsibilities, ORG Chart, crew list, estimate handoff, material plan, tooling & equipment plan, work plans, schedule, manpower loading, pre-activity meetings, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) process, Short Interval Scheduling (SIS) process, pre-fab opportunities, & project look a heads.
JOB SPECIFIC TASKS:
Implement the Quality Program process for project jobsites.
Assists the project teams with setting up all deliverables of the Aldridge Quality Program.
Visit jobsites at a minimum on a bi-monthly schedule.
Oversee and audit the Quality Program (QP) processes for project jobsites.
Assist in the refinement, maintenanceand updating of project databaseto ensure all audits are scheduled, tracked and performed on a timely basis.
Attend job progress and pre-planning meetings and maintain logs of Quality items.
Advocate project pre-planning initiatives and provide support where possible.
Investigate and prepare root cause analysis and corrective action for non-conforming work with the DoQ or QPD. Maintain a record of all Non-Conforming Work.
Advise the Project Manager, DoQ, and/or QDM of noted quality deficiencies when defects are not corrected in a timely manner.
Monitor installation techniques to ensure the client receives a quality product. Installation methods will also be measured and inspected for conformance with the contract specifications.
Verify that all testing on the jobsite is per job specifications and is documented.
Ensure that all subcontractors and suppliers adhere to the Quality Program established for the project.
Work with the DoQ & the QDM to identify topics/subjects that require training.
Make sure all ‘Rework’ is reported accurately as ‘Rework’ on the project’s Cost to Complete tracking sheets.
Make sure all ‘Punch List’ work is reported accurately on the project’s Cost to Complete Tracking sheets.
Work with the Division Business Manager (DBM) to accurately update monthly the Pre-Job Planning Schedule.
Communicate trends, issues and best practices to the QDM to support Aldridge as a learning organization.
Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management, Engineering or Construction Management, a successful Union trade background, and/or project management construction experience with a minimum of 2 years or equal.
Candidates must have the ability to implement Quality programs and assist the Director of Quality (DoQ) and/or Quality Division Manager (QDM) with developing and writing Quality Manuals.
Must be familiar with project management and construction practices and be able to understand project codes and requirements. Applicants must be able to read and interpret blueprints/schematics, specifications, and implement processes to deliver what is expected.
Must have the ability to work under pressure, closely overseeing and tracking QA/QC details of multiple projects.
Must be able to use MS Word, & Excel.
Must have experience in a decision-making position, knowledge of statistical methods and quality standards, self-motivated and independent, organized, analytical thinking, with good oral and written communication skills.
Must have valid Driver’s License.
Must be able to report on the Quality Program’s accomplishments, challenges, and course of actions taken on a job by job basis to the DoQ and QDM.
